Sr. Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support key accounting operations for a contract position based in Richmond, Virginia. This role is suited for a detail-oriented finance specialist who can manage core ledger activity, maintain accurate records, and deliver timely reporting in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in close processes, reconciliations, and financial analysis, along with hands-on experience using QuickBooks.Responsibilities:• Lead monthly close activities by preparing entries, reviewing balances, and ensuring deadlines are met with accuracy.• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger through detailed analysis, account review, and proper transaction recording.• Complete account and bank reconciliations regularly, investigating discrepancies and resolving outstanding items promptly.• Oversee accounts receivable records by tracking incoming payments, applying cash correctly, and following up on variances when needed.• Prepare and file monthly sales tax information in accordance with applicable reporting requirements.• Produce financial reports that provide clear insight into operating results and support management decision-making.• Enter and review journal entries with supporting documentation to ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.• Use QuickBooks and QuickBooks Online to manage accounting data, support reporting needs, and improve day-to-day financial accuracy.
