Accounting Manager — Corporate Accounting Team

Lexington, MA

Compensation: $130,000–$145,000 base + 10% target annual bonus + 401(k) match

Schedule: Hybrid — four days onsite in Lexington, MA and one remote day each week

The Opportunity

Origin Staffing is partnering with a well-established, privately held company supporting commercial development and building services to hire an Accounting Manager for its corporate accounting team. The business combines a longstanding operating history with continued growth, a collaborative culture, and investment in its people, technology, and future.

This opportunity offers more than a narrowly defined accounting role. You will work directly with a Controller who is committed to mentoring this hire, sharing responsibilities, and helping them develop into a broader accounting leader. The environment is fast-paced, hands-on, and collaborative, with meaningful exposure to leadership and the opportunity to improve how the accounting function operates.

You will initially supervise one Staff/Senior Accountant. As you become established, the plan is to expand your oversight to include the AP lead and AR team, potentially within the first 6–12 months, with additional payroll team (team of 2) oversight-related involvement developing over time. It is an opportunity to build on a strong accounting foundation while gradually growing your team and responsibilities.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead core accounting and close activities. Take a hands-on role in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and general ledger review.
  • Prepare financial statements and meaningful reporting. Apply sound GAAP knowledge, investigate variances, resolve accounting questions, and help leadership understand the results.
  • Coordinate the external audit. Prepare and review supporting schedules, work directly with auditors, and keep requests and deliverables moving.
  • Develop people and strengthen collaboration. Coach your direct report, review their work, and partner with AP, AR, finance, and operational teams to resolve issues and improve accounting workflows.
  • Make processes better. Work alongside the Controller on internal controls, reporting improvements, special projects, and practical uses of automation and AI-assisted tools to reduce manual work.

What You’ll Bring

  • A strong corporate accounting foundation. Typically seven or more years of progressive experience, although depth of responsibility matters more than an exact year count.
  • Hands-on technical ability. Strong general ledger, month-end close, financial statement preparation, and audit experience—not simply exposure to reviewing someone else’s work.
  • Leadership potential and business confidence. Experience supervising, mentoring, or reviewing accounting staff, along with the ability to communicate clearly with leadership, ask questions, and remain composed amid competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical and Excel skills. Comfort working through detailed spreadsheets, researching discrepancies, learning systems, and finding more efficient ways to work.

Candidates from all industries are encouraged to apply. A CPA is valued but not required, and public accounting experience is not a prerequisite. A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field—or equivalent relevant experience—is expected.

Why Join?

This is a chance to gain broad responsibilities without being expected to know every part of the business on day one. You will have direct mentorship, visibility with leadership, and a planned opportunity to expand your management scope within an employee-focused, down-to-earth organization.

The package includes a $130,000–$145,000 base salary, a discretionary annual bonus targeted at 10%, a company 401(k) match, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, generous paid time off, and professional-development support.
